ECT sensor system inspection

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• ECT malfunction
• A/C amplifier malfunction
• PCM malfunction
• Open or short circuit in wiring harnesses between A/C amplifier, ECT sensor, and PCM

Diagnostic Procedure

ACTION

• Inspect the voltage at the following A/C amplifier terminal (wiring harness side).
– Terminal 2M (16-pin, ECT sensor input signal)
• Is the voltage normal?
Yes
Replace the A/C amplifier.
No
Inspect the ECT sensor, PCM, and the wiring harness. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION.) (See PCM INSPECTION.)
